Ap--0 to 18 centimeters; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) cobbly silt loam; coarse parting to weak coarse granular structure; very friable; coarse skeleton 5 to 8 percent; abrupt boundary. Lab sample # 40A40728

Lab sample # 40A40733. The material seemed to be getting slightly less firm at the 40 inch depth, but if so, it is probably a thin stratum. This horizon contains a rather high proportion of coarse fragments ranging from 2 to 5 inches in diameter. A few silt or very fine sand films are present around some gravel and rock fragments.
