Oi--0 to 3 centimeters (0.0 to 1.2 inches); peat; extremely acid, pH 4.0, ; abrupt wavy boundary.

Oe--3 to 10 centimeters (1.2 to 3.9 inches); mucky peat; common fine and medium roots throughout; extremely acid, pH 4.2, ; abrupt wavy boundary.

A--10 to 20 centimeters (3.9 to 7.9 inches); black (10YR 2/1) sandy loam; 5 percent spherical very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) and 5 percent spherical gray (10YR 6/1) mottles; weak fine subangular blocky structure; friable; common fine and medium roots throughout; 10 percent albic tongues (volume percent); very strongly acid, pH 4.6, ; abrupt smooth boundary.
