Notes: SAMPLED UMASS. VEGETATION SPECIES: RED MAPLE, CINNAMON FERN, ALDERS.

Oi-- 3 to 0 inches; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) fibric material; common fine to coarse roots throughout; abrupt smooth boundary.

A-- 0 to 4 inches; very dark gray (N 3/0) sandy loam; massive; friable; common medium roots and common very fine and fine; cobbles and 5 percent angular gravel and 5 percent angular stones; abrupt smooth boundary.

Bg1-- 4 to 12 inches; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) and grayish brown (10YR 5/2) loamy sand; massive; loose; common fine and medium roots; 5 percent angular gravel; clear wavy boundary.

Bg2--12 to 20 inches; grayish brown (10YR 5/2) sand; massive; loose; common fine roots; gravel and cobbles and stones; clear wavy boundary.

Bsm--20 to 28 inches; dark reddish brown (5YR 3/2) loamy sand; massive; very firm; cobbles and 5 percent angular gravel and 5 percent angular stones; clear wavy boundary. Uncemented areas above and below Bsm - Bs horizon.

C--28 to 40 inches; brown (10YR 5/3) loamy sand; common coarse prominent dark reddish brown (5YR 3/4) mottles; weak medium subangular blocky structure; friable; 10 percent angular cobbles and 15 percent angular gravel and 5 percent angular stones; clear wavy boundary. Water table below ortstine at 31" at surface in April.

Cdg--28 to 65 inches; light brownish gray (2.5Y 6/2) fine sandy loam and loamy coarse sand; common coarse prominent strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) mottles; weak medium subangular blocky structure; firm; 10 percent angular gravel and 10 percent angular cobbles and 5 percent angular stones. Lenses of LCOS in Cdg.
