Oe-- 0 to 2 inches; dark reddish brown (5YR 2/2), interior, partially decomposed organic matter; common very fine roots throughout; 4.4 LaMotte-Morgan; abrupt wavy boundary. ( 1 to 3 inches; 2 inches)

A-- 2 to 3.5 inches; dark gray (10YR 4/1), interior, coarse sand; weak medium granular structure; very friable; common very fine roots throughout and common medium throughout; 4.4 LaMotte-Morgan; 2 percent subrounded mixed gravel; abrupt wavy boundary. ( 1 to 2 inches; 1 inches)

E-- 3 to 7 inches; grayish brown (10YR 5/2), interior, coarse sand; single grain; loose; common medium roots throughout and common very fine throughout; 4.6 LaMotte-Morgan; 2 percent subrounded mixed gravel; abrupt wavy boundary. ( 3 to 6 inches; 4 inches)Textural analysis sand 90.59%, silt 8.96%, clay 0.4%.

Notes: Sunny day, 85-90 degrees f. some pieces of charcoal were observed in the Oe horizon. Disturbed areas were noted on 2 of the pit walls, appeared to be a plow furrow, compacted soil material was noted below it, platy structure. Animal burrow was observed in a portion of the Bw horizon, many fine roots within it.

Bs-- 2 to 4.5 inches; dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4), interior, loamy coarse sand; massive; friable; common medium roots throughout and common very fine throughout; 4.4 LaMotte-Morgan; abrupt wavy boundary. ( 1 to 3 inches; 2 inches)Textural sample (UMass) sand 86.43%; silt 9.63%; clay 3.94%.

Bw-- 4 to 25 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/6), interior, loamy coarse sand; massive; friable; common coarse roots throughout and common very fine throughout; 4.8 LaMotte-Morgan; 2 percent subrounded mixed gravel; clear wavy boundary. (16 to 21 inches;18 inches)Textural sample (UMass) sand 82.2%; silt 15.68%; clay 2.12%.

BC--25 to 30 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/4), interior, coarse sand; single grain; loose; common fine roots throughout and common very fine throughout; 5.0 LaMotte-Morgan; 15 percent subrounded mixed gravel; gradual smooth boundary. ( 3 to 6 inches; 5 inches)

C1--30 to 47 inches; light yellowish brown (10YR 6/4), interior, coarse sand; single grain; loose; 5.0 LaMotte-Morgan; 5 percent subrounded mixed gravel; diffuse smooth boundary. (15 to 20 inches;17 inches)

C2--47 to 72 inches; very pale brown (10YR 7/3), interior, coarse sand; single grain; loose; 5.0 LaMotte-Morgan; 5 percent subrounded mixed gravel.
