Ap--0 to 36 centimeters (0.0 to 14.2 inches); 98 percent very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) broken face sandy loam; granular structure; very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; deformable; low excavation difficulty; continuous organic stains throughout; 2 percent subrounded 2- to 75-millimeter unspecified fragments; common fine and medium vesicular and tubular pores with high continuity; many very fine and fine roots throughout, common medium roots in mat at top of horizon; abrupt smooth boundary.
