Notes: 150' from small pond = v level; cloudy day = overcast; in field of abandoned farmhouse approximately 300 ft. N. of cemetary.

 

Ap-- 0 to 11 inches; dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) sandy loam; weak subangular blocky structure; very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine and fine roots throughout and common medium throughout; common very fine to medium moderate continuity vesicular and tubular pores; abrupt smooth boundary. ( 8 to 13 inches)

Bw--11 to 17.5 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) loamy sand; common fine and medium faint olive yellow (2.5Y 6/6) moist irregular mottles throughout and common fine and medium faint strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout; weak subangular blocky structure; very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine and fine roots throughout and common medium throughout; common very fine to medium moderate continuity vesicular and tubular pores; Bw - Root channels = 10YR 4/4 common (20%) throughout.; clear wavy boundary. ( 5 to 11 inches)Bw - pocket of coarser material (LS) of 10YR 6/6 surrounded by hi chroma 7.5YR 5/8; band of gcos 2" thick from 59-61" continuous; water table observed @ 81'; monitoring well installed

BC--17.5 to 24 inches; light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/4) loamy sand; common fine and medium prominent strong brown (7.5YR 5/6) moist irregular mottles throughout, few fine and medium prominent dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) moist irregular mottles throughout, and common fine and medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine and fine roots throughout and common medium throughout; common very fine to medium moderate continuity vesicular and tubular pores; clear wavy boundary. C1--24 to 29 inches; light olive gray (5Y 6/2) loamy sand; common fine and medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout and few fine and medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) moist irregular mottles throughout; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine roots throughout; common very fine to medium moderate continuity vesicular and tubular pores; clear wavy boundary. ( 3 to 8 inches)

C2--29 to 48 inches; pale yellow (2.5Y 7/3) and light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/3) medium and coarse sand; common fine and medium prominent strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout and common fine and medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; C2 stratified layers of MS/COS bands are approximately 1" in thickness.; clear wavy boundary. (10 to 24 inches)

C3--48 to 55 inches; light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/4) sand; common coarse prominent yellowish red (5YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout and many coarse prominent strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) moist irregular mottles throughout; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; C3 - Seasonal WT = iron layer; banded layer of iron/sands; also irregular shaped mottles present.; clear wavy boundary. ( 5 to 14 inches)

C4--55 to 75 inches; light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/3) coarse sand; common medium prominent yellowish brown (10YR 5/6) moist irregular mottles throughout; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; 29 percent subrounded mixed-igneous-metamorphic & sedimentary gravel.
