Notes: Land Use - Forest land - proposed subdivision site, weather - sunny 60 degrees F. Backhoe pit (50" x 100" - Description taken on north wall. Area mapped - Essex on 1969 SSR - area remapped Montauk - finer textures throughout.

 

Oi-- 2 to 0 inches; fibric material.

Oe-- 0 to 1.5 inches; black (5YR 2/1) partially decomposed organic matter; very friable.

Oa--1.5 to 3 inches; black (10YR 2/1) sapric material; moderate medium granular structure; very friable; common fine roots between peds; 5 percent subangular gravel and 2 percent subangular cobbles and 2 percent subangular stones; abrupt wavy boundary.

A-- 3 to 6 inches; dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) fine sandy loam; massive; very friable; common fine roots between peds and common medium and common coarse; 10 percent subangular gravel and 2 percent subangular cobbles and 2 percent subangular stones; abrupt wavy boundary.
