Oe--1 to 4 centimeters (0.4 to 1.6 inches); dark reddish brown (5YR 3/2) mucky peat; abrupt wavy boundary.

Oa--4 to 5 centimeters (1.6 to 2.0 inches); black (7.5YR 2/1) muck; extremely acid, pH 4.4, Bromcresol green; abrupt wavy boundary.

AE--5 to 15 centimeters (2.0 to 5.9 inches); 95 percent brown (10YR 4/3) and 5 percent light gray (10YR 7/1) loamy sand; very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common fine and medium roots throughout and common coarse roots throughout and common very fine roots throughout; very strongly acid, pH 4.8, Bromcresol green; abrupt smooth boundary.
