Ap-- 0 to 9.5 inches; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) dry; moderate fine and medium granular structure; friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine roots throughout and common fine and medium throughout; 5.8 LaMotte-Morgan; 10 percent subangular gravel and 2 percent subangular cobbles; abrupt wavy boundary. 25% dark, flat coarse fragments

Bw1-- 9 to 23 inches; olive brown (2.5Y 4/4) loam; weak fine and medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine roots throughout; 5.8 LaMotte-Morgan; 10 percent subangular gravel and 2 percent subangular cobbles and 2 percent subangular stones; clear wavy boundary. warm casts (10YR 3/2) 10% of area; textural samples collected for lab analysis of Bw1, Cd1, and Cd2; 25% dark, flat coarse fragments
