Notes: 50 degrees F. and overcast--some drizzal. Nearly level--no evident top and bottom of slope. Vegetation Species--pitch pine, red oak, white oak, huckleberry, lowbush blueberry, ferns.

Oi-- 1 to 0 inches; abrupt wavy boundary. leaves, pine needles, and twigs

Oe-- 0 to 1.5 inches; very dusky red (2.5YR 2/2) ; very friable; common very fine roots; 4.6 Bromcresol green; abrupt wavy boundary. matted leaves

A-- 1 to 3.5 inches; very dark gray (10YR 3/1) sandy loam; weak fine and medium granular structure; very friable; common fine and medium roots throughout and common very fine; 4.8 Bromcresol green; abrupt broken boundary. difficult to read; organic in suspension

E-- 3 to 5.5 inches; gray (10YR 6/1) loamy sand; massive; very friable; common fine and medium roots throughout and common very fine; 4.8 Bromcresol green; 5 percent subrounded mixed gravel and 5 percent subrounded mixed cobbles; abrupt wavy boundary.

C--24 to 48 inches; light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/4) coarse sand; massive; very friable; 5.4 Bromcresol green; 5.5 Chlorophenol red; 1 percent subangular mixed stones and 30 percent subrounded mixed gravel and 5 percent subrounded mixed cobbles; abrupt wavy boundary. varigated colors, 10YR 6/6, only in the upper 6" of the horizon
