Notes: Samples taken for lab characterization at University of Massachusetts, soils lab. Vegetation species include white oak, red oak, pitch pine, viberum, blackberry, huckleberry, low bush blueberry.

Oi-- 2 to 0 inches; fibric material; abrupt wavy boundary.

Oe-- 0 to 1 inches; dark brown (7.5YR 3/2) partially decomposed organic matter; very friable; abrupt wavy boundary. 1 to 1.5 inches; black (5YR 2/1) sapric material; weak fine and medium granular structure; very friable; common medium roots throughout and common very fine and fine throughout; 4.0 Bromcresol green; abrupt wavy boundary.

E-- 1 to 3.5 inches; grayish brown (10YR 5/2) coarse sandy loam; massive; friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common fine roots throughout and common medium throughout; 4.6 Bromcresol green; and5 percent subrounded mixed gravel and 5 percent subrounded mixed cobbles; abrupt wavy boundary.

Bs-- 3 to 5 inches; brown (7.5YR 4/2) sandy loam; weak fine and medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; common very fine and fine roots throughout and common medium and coarse throughout; 4.8 Bromcresol green; 10 percent subrounded mixed gravel and 2 percent subangular mixed stones and 5 percent subrounded mixed cobbles; abrupt wavy boundary. textures close to COSL

2C2--38 to 64 inches; light yellowish brown (2.5Y 6/4) coarse sand; single grain; loose, nonsticky and nonplastic; 5.5 Bromcresol green; 5.5 Chlorophenol red; 1 percent subangular mixed stones and 30 percent subrounded mixed gravel and 5 percent subrounded mixed cobbles.
