It’s good to always keep in mind the 5 factors of soil formation when you are trying to figure out when the soil in one location is different from the soil in another location. The reason for the difference can always (or mostly always) be attributed to one or more of the 5 factors.
Although all 5 factors are important for soil formation, some factors have more influence on soil variability than others. The two most important factors in New England are parent material and relief/landscape position.
