Just think of how a rain forest soil would differ from a desert soil, or a tropical soil from a tundra soil. Temperature and moisture amounts cause different patterns of weathering and leaching. Redoximorphic formation requires biologic activity which only occurs when soils are above biologic zero (40F or 4C).
